And Meet the Locals Have you ever had the frustration of coming home from a trip and having a friend ask if you stopped at a certain store or attraction that you didn't even know existed? Have you ever wished you could get into the homes of the locals and talk to them, not just the tourism professionals? Both of these frustrations can be overcome by joining Welcome Traveller (welcometraveller.org), and the best part is, you'll save an enormous amount of money! This new online organisation aims to bring like-minded people together to provide an inexpensive bed and breakfast experience. As well as providing a low-cost accommodation option, this will also get you into the homes of the locals, specifically, the homes of people who have the same interests as you (members are sorted in the database by interests) and can inform you of the best their area has to offer for people with your interests or hobbies. For a modest yearly membership fee ($30 US), you can both visit and host others from whichever of the groups you choose to join. An honorarium, given directly to the host, is $10 per person per night in local currency in Canada and the USA. These honorariums are to ensure that you are not out of pocket for having hosted guests. Honorariums for other countries are listed on the web site, and are of comparable amounts. As a new company, Welcome Traveller is anxious to build its database quickly, and so is offering a free five year membership to the first 1000 people to join.
